I have been following the making of this program and wanted to be a part of it in Connecticut, but I was not aware of the developments that have taken place since the release of this film.

I am a minority member of the Chamber of Commerce who is excited about the having the privilege to not only show this film to a community but to begin holding discussions on racism and multiculturalism in various parts of the state.

Is there an outreach program in Connecticut and how can I be a part of the development?

Thanks.

Sam

Hi Sam, thanks for writing here at the website. The outreach program connected directly with the film is being developed now. I'm not sure when it will be completed because everyone is busy preparing for the television broadcast by P.O.V. on PBS (June 24, 10:00pm; check your local listings). Public screenings of the film are quite limited until after that date. Companion workbooks and discussion points are being developed for use in the kind of forum you're talking about.

In the near term, I will be in Connecticut for a few days in April as part of my ongoing tour with my memoir of our journey, Inheriting The Trade, published by Beacon Press. At this point my only confirmed appearance is at a college class in New Haven. I'm hoping to make appearances in a more accessible public setting (like bookstores) as well, but those arrangements have not yet been finalized. If you check the schedule page on the book's website (http://www.inheritingthetrade.com/schedule.html) around the end of March the full April schedule will be there.

Thanks for your interest. I also encourage you to go to the "contact" link on the film's website navigation bar (http://www.tracesofthetrade.org/contact.html) and let them know of your interest.

Best wishes,

Tom
